link roundup / 36

October 30, 2015

It’s Halloween weekend and I’m feeling kind of like these kiddos look – crazy & tired. :) So excited for the weekend though! Here are some links for your Friday. For fall, I’m looking to invest in some black booties. I’d love to get these, but they would take me until NEXT fall to save up for. My second choice would be these, but that’s still probably too much for me right now. So instead I’m thinking something like these. And speaking of ankle booties, I appreciated this post on how to wear them. A seriously simple fall wreath DIY. Have you heard of Madre Beads? They are playful and mama/baby friendly necklaces & bracelets, and I’m in love. I’ve…

favorite scary books

October 29, 2015

I’m not much of a scary book reader, but since it’s that time of year I figured I’d share my favorites all the same. I could only come up with four that would qualify, so as a bonus I turned to my husband David who loves this stuff. Here we go! IT by Stephen King – David turned me on to Stephen King as a writer, and although I tend to stay away from his horror stuff, I did tackle IT and man was it good. Yeah there is some scary stuff in there, but you’d also be surprised to know that there is a beautiful coming-of-age story within it, as well as a lovely portrait of childhood friendship. (P.S. –…

week in the life 2015 : thursday in the album

October 26, 2015

I’m getting so close to finishing this project, over halfway through! I’ve been getting through a day each weekend lately so I should be done by Thanksgiving for sure. :) I like my albums to be cohesive so I pick a formula and stick with it. You’ll see the same things here as the other days. The “today” stamp above is from last year’s week in the life kit. Again you’ll notice that I put some photos back to back outside the page protectors. The pair on top is centered around daycare dropoff, and the pair on the bottom is about my work day. I’ve really liked including a lot of typed journaling on the photos, but I also like…

kitchen switch-ups with viva

October 22, 2015

Are you a brand-loyal type of person? I think most people are for some things. Personally, I like to try a bunch of different products until I find what I consider the best, and then I stick to it. That’s how we landed on Viva® Towels ages ago. If you haven’t tried them, they are plain white and feel like cloth. The higher quality is immediately noticeable, and basically, we are in love. When I was asked to attend a local event to learn more about the Viva® Vantage® towel (post sponsor!), I was totally game because I already knew it was a brand I love. Even though we try not to use too many paper towels in favor of…

halloween costume plans & free portraits

October 20, 2015

This post is sponsored by Portrait Innovations because I think this event is really cool and want to share! So, have you got your kids’ Halloween costumes figured out yet? I usually wait until the last minute just because Halloween is not a big deal to me. Sometimes it pays off (once I found an awesome costume for Meredith at Old Navy the day before for only a few bucks) but as with most things it’s much easier to plan ahead. (Especially when you’re like me and hate to pay real cash money for them.) Last year’s costumes Meredith is finally at the age where she has pretty strong opinions about what she wants to dress up as. First, she…
