meredith lately

January 11, 2016

I tried to get her to wear something cute for these photos. She resists. Meredith: Mommy, why are you in the bed? Me: because I’m exhausted, you guys have worn me out today. I just want to hide for awhile. Meredith: you want to play hide and seek? Me: no I just want to play hide. Meredith: how do you play hide? Me: I go hide and you two leave me alone for awhile. How about that? Meredith: no. at the dinner table… Meredith: look Mommy! Me: please get your hand out of your milk. Meredith: but I like it there! Me: stop, that’s messy. You’re supposed to be drinking it. Meredith: (a moment later, as the milk drips down…

link roundup / 42

January 8, 2016

First of all, I’m so excited to be a brand ambassador for Madre Beads, a small business of one mama who makes playful jewelry and accessories for mom + baby. She’ll be restocking soon and I can’t wait! I love Modern Mrs. Darcy’s annual reading challenges, and here is 2016’s! I hope to try and complete this one. If I were choosing a word for the year, it would probably be the one Brittany chose. Interactive books for energetic young readers. These are perfect for my kids. My friend Miranda is going to be one of the featured makers with The Crafter’s Box in the next few months, and this week she gave a good description of the project! This…

recent crafting & what else i’m up to

January 6, 2016

Well it’s the new year and I can’t say I’m unhappy about being back to the routine! The holidays were very fun but the kids were also crazy and I feel like they are finally settling down again. We have a ton of birthdays to celebrate in our family this month so I didn’t make any plans or goals, but I feel fairly prepared for them and I have a lot of creative energy which is a good feeling. As for crafting, I absolutely loved the first month of The Crafter’s Box. I completed the Rya weaving wall hanging within a couple of weeks and I can’t wait for next month’s project. I’m working on my holiday minibook digitally; it’s going to…

2015 in review

December 31, 2015

Hello and welcome to my second annual year-in-review survey! This year I dropped a couple of questions and changed one to make it more applicable to me. I really enjoy this look back over the year, even if it wasn’t what I had hoped, because it puts things in perspective, makes me grateful for what I do have, and gives me inspiration to start new. 1. What did you do in 2015 that you’d never done before? Ran a half marathon. Went to a blog conference. Learned to knit. Owned cats. Tried Snapchat. Had ringworm. Joined a direct-sell business. Made a softie. Recorded a podcast. 2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next…

my reading year in review and favorite books of 2015

December 29, 2015

This was a solid year of reading with some excellent books, even though I didn’t read as many as I usually do. (Blame it on the kids, like I do everything. But I read twice as many as last year when we were adjusting to having two!) Today I want to share a few statistics about my reading year, as well as my favorite books! The graphic above is from Goodreads, which I use to track all my reading. Here are some additional stats that I was interested in: Percent fiction – 62.5% Percent nonfiction – 37.5% Percent female authors – 50% Percent diverse authors – 17.5% See all of the books I read in 2015 here. Now on to…
