  • Bubba’s On His Way Out

I posted yesterday about my ignition problems with my car before leaving for work. Then I went to my car to leave, and my key wouldn’t turn at all. Short story: my wonderful fiance picked me up and took me to work, I had my car towed to the shop, took the bus home, and my car needs a part replaced and won’t be ready until Wednesday or Thursday. The whole deal will probably cost me around $500.

I’ve gone back and forth on whether or not to get it fixed, because my car is a 1999, it’s beginning to have more and more problems, and I’m sure it’s not worth a whole lot. But I decided to go ahead and put this on my (ever-increasing) credit card bill and wait until I start my job to get a new car. This way I can shop for a deal, get the car I want, and not put so much stress on myself at the moment when I need to be studying for finals.

In related news, I started reading Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace today.

My mom is graciously letting me borrow her car until I get mine back. All of these things that are going on with me lately are stressful but I will say that I am learning a lot of life lessons and I am grateful.

When I was sans car yesterday I took the bus home from work. I was reading patiently at the bus stop until one of these little guys fell into my lap. Then another one fell on my shoulder. I looked up and discovered that the roof of the bus stop cover was full of them, and they were crawling all around the bench as well. I moved shortly after.

My youngest brother Barry, on the right, teaches theater at a small school. Friday was their production complete with a homemade spaghetti dinner. David bought a t-shirt that they were selling and threw it on. (My other brother David designed the shirts.) These guys are good friends now, which makes me so happy. Here they are after the show.

    • Scored a free Sirius satellite radio. David’s brother’s girlfriend wasn’t using hers and the subscription is paid for lifetime!
    • Decided it’s probably best if I get a new car once I start working. My ignition nearly broke, and it’s at the point where it’s not really smart to put a lot of money into it. Things like this keep happening, so I guess I’ll just bite the bullet and get a new little fuel efficient car.
    • Returned home and was reunited with Cleo. I celebrated by taking her to see her friends Eddie and Sydney at David’s house. She also got a cow hoof to take home, which my roommate isn’t too pleased about because it smells pretty bad.
    • Didn’t study at all for my final exam in community health, which is Wednesday. Am I worried? Nah.
  • Infestation?

Last night I came home a little late after a soccer game, and I was in the room I’m staying in getting ready to shower. I called out loud, “If there are any roaches in the bathroom, you had better get out now. If you don’t, just look in the trash can and see what will happen to you!”

Imagine my disgust when I turned on the bathroom light and there was ANOTHER huge one just sitting there in the middle of the floor, looking around. I could hardly believe it. Are they out to get me? Was this a reconnoissance mission to look for the one I killed yesterday? Tomorrow night, will there be an army awaiting me? Ugh.

Anyway, I was actually more angry than scared with this one, so I didn’t allow myself time to think about it. I hesitated only for a second, shook the bad thoughts out of my mind, then went and got a shoe and smashed it. Twice for good measure. And then it joined its friend in the trash, just as I warned.
