Meredith and her cousin Cameron yesterday on Thanksgiving. The hand-holding kills me.

    Time // 10:00 a.m.
    Place // kitchen counter
Eating // bacon and Christmas cookies
    Drinking // coffee
Watching // my husband feed Meredith leftover snacks
Reading // Moby-Dick by Herman Melville – agreed to a readalong with my brother-in-law (he’s smoking me on speed though) and am enjoying it a lot more than I expected to
Wanting // some cool weather to arrive and stick around
Thinking // about venturing out to a few stores
    Creating // Christmas decorations
Hoping // my uncle’s health improves
Needing // to do a purge of stuff we don’t need or use throughout the house
    Anticipating // Christmas :)

Our Thanksgiving was a little untraditional – after a quiet morning at home we spent the afternoon in the hospital visiting my uncle where my family had Chinese food. We’re gathering again later today to eat barbecue too. Then that evening we had our big meal with David’s family. I think the best part was watching Meredith sample the different pies.

So funny. Anyway it was good, and now we have three more days to relax, and my husband and I are about to head out shopping. Not for gifts yet (I’m not that ahead of the game) but for things we need (and want) around the house.

    Happy long weekend! :)

Hey, I have a new blog design. It’s simple & clean. It has my handwriting. It has a pretty pink. I like it. My blogging life is slowly but surely getting to where I want it to be.

    Time // 10:45 a.m.
Place // at home on the couch
    Eating // dark chocolate m&m’s
Drinking // had some coffee, now wanting some water
Watching // nothing because I’m trying to FOCUS. Last night though I got Meredith to bed early and I turned on my recording of Dancing With the Stars. I barely paid attention to it & I really don’t have the time to devote to it anymore. I guess I’m over that show for now.
Reading // The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I like a lot of things about it, but it’s starting to drag a little and I think it should’ve been shorter.
Wanting // Meredith to stop getting sick. She spent last night throwing up again and has been having diarrhea (again).
Thinking // about what could be causing her recurring sickness
    Creating // blog posts
Hoping // the weather stays cool(er) like it is this morning
Needing // to take more pictures
Anticipating // our vacation to visit friends in a couple of weeks

So yeah, we’re stuck at home with Meredith today after a whole lot of throwing up in the middle of the night. It’s weird because she seems perfectly fine and doesn’t cry or anything. I was on duty all morning and now David is taking his turn. He decided to take her for a drive at his own risk, because she might spew in the car. But I have some moments of quiet at home right now, and then when the Texans game starts I’m going to take over for him again.

Very happy about the new blog design. Still working on the old posts, categories, and preparing new posts. I’m hoping to get back to regular updating again after our vacation, so – end of October maybe.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend. :)

I’ve been in reading/book cataloguing/organizing mode. This is my to-read shelf, and here’s what’s on it.

    Time // 1:45 p.m.
Place // on break at work
Eating // for lunch we were brought a delicious chicken in a creamy sauce over rice
Drinking // afternoon coffee (my caffeine addiction has taken itself up a notch)
Watching // nothing since the Olympics ended
Reading // Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn (for book club, on the Kindle) and Dinner: A Love Story by Jenny Rosenthal (from the library)
Wanting // to finish cataloging our book collection and make the library into a happy place
Thinking // about painting our front door
Creating // a cross stitch I’ve been working on for ages, and fiddling around with hand illustrating a new blog header myself
Hoping // to pay off some debt and save some money now that we’ve dropped a car payment (long story)
Needing // to make the switch from our bank to a local credit union
Anticipating // the arrival of my new cold coffee press that I ordered recently

This long weekend was just what we needed. My house is clean and organized, I read a hundred pages in my book, caught up on my crafts, got to do some shopping, ate good food, and spent lots of quality time with David and Meredith. And now that we are both 100% over our sickness I’m ready to add running and cooking back into my routine.

    Life is good.
