  • relax.

That was the name of the game this weekend.

Last week was weird and hard. The first half was a blur because Meredith, the best nighttime sleeper ever, would NOT SLEEP. Kudos to anyone who has to deal with that on a regular basis, because I could barely function. On the fourth day, when I had to go to work after being awake since 1:30 a.m., I thought I was going to have to take a day off lest I kill a patient due to exhaustion. But for whatever reason, she has slept well since then and I am left wondering what caused the ordeal.

Work was busy and I ended up staying late every day except one. There was an incident with one of my patients one day where we ended up having to call security because he said something so disgustingly vulgar, complete with demonstration, that I didn’t feel comfortable being his nurse anymore. It really threw me off and distracted me for the entire day.

So when the weekend rolled around and I had no plans whatsoever I knew I wanted to do only the basic amount of chores (laundry, sweep, dishes, groceries) and spend the rest of the time relaxing.

On Saturday Meredith was still not 100% (she’s been having digestive issues and congestion – but the essential oils are really helping with everything) so I decided to keep her home. We played, I got to work on my cross stitch, she took a great afternoon nap, did some chores here and there, and had a nice visit to my in-laws.

Sunday morning David went fishing with his dad and brothers (an early Father’s Day excursion) so we were up early. Meredith and I had a good low-key morning by ourselves and then my mother-in-law agreed to babysit her for a few hours so I could have some alone time. It was amazing. I got Starbucks, ate calmly while reading a magazine, made pizza dough, then got completely caught up on Project Life. By the time I went to pick up Meredith the boys were on their way home, she took a good nap so I could finish chores, and then we had a nice fish fry with the family (David and I don’t like fish so we ate our homemade pizza).

Here’s to relaxing weekends and nice, normal weeks!

  • June Loves

I never get tired of reading about the things other people are currently loving, so I decided to start my own!

// Timex Weekender watch – a gift from my brother and sister-in-law that’s perfect for work
// lots of new craft papers from Archiver’s, like this Amy Tangerine paper pad
// while our microwave was broken I ate McDonald’s fruit & maple oatmeal for breakfast almost every day
// one of my favorite singers has collaborated to make a kids’ folk gospel album, and now that I’ve heard it I’m pretty much ruined on all other kids’ music
// maxi skirts and white t-shirts are pretty much my favorite summer outfit
// have you seen the trailer for the new Les Miserables movie? It looks so good – I’m a sucker for musical adaptations.

  • project life 2012 : weeks 14 – 17

As you can see, I got way behind again. Oops. But now I am caught up! So it’s all good.

    Week 14:

    Super simple week.

I got some new washi tape so I played with it on the date card. Also got a scalloped circle punch that I used for some journaling. The little cartoon nurse is from a card a coworker made me. The bottom right picture shows the nursery after Meredith finishes playing in it, which is something we do a lot.

The pictures here are mostly from a weekend. Visiting a book store, going running, Meredith being fascinated by the toilet, the book I finished, completed cross stitch project, the May photo a day list (that I am totally failing at), and eating puffies.

    Week 15:

    Ω

This was the week I figured out how to print my square Instagram photos at Walgreen’s (via Snapfish) using the Diptic app. Pretty happy about that.

Edit: This is how I print square pics right now. On the Diptic app for iPhone (which allows you to create photo mosaics), I purchased a 99 cent addition that has different sizes, including the 4 x 6 ratio. There is one option that has two 3 x 3 squares, and I plug in my square photos there along with a couple 1 x 4 photos that I may or may  not use. This way I can send the completed 4 x 6 mosaic to Walgreen’s, print it at a regular price, and then I just cut out the two square photos on my own. Hope this helps!

It was nurse’s week, so I put in the program to the opening ceremony I attended at work. Got a belated birthday gift from my brother in the mail so I included the note that came with it. Had a cute text convo with my dad that I saved, and we also went to a new church so I put in the nursery summary sheet.

Nothing much different here. An outfit I wore to work, David feeding Meredith, info about essential oils, me with my friend Sara’s new baby boy Dash, a picture Meredith “made” for me, a rare meal out, and the little toe sucker.

    Weeks 16 & 17:

I combined these two, but included an insert for Mother’s Day:

I’m not crazy about this layout but at least it’s done.

There is a sweet card a coworker gave me, the business card of the place we went for brunch on Sunday, then on the bottom is Meredith playing with bags of chips and cans of soda in the pantry (seriously one of her favorite things to do), and an incident report from daycare because M. fell and bruised her cheek. I loved that under “action taken” they wrote “given lots of TLC.”

Here’s the spread with the back of the insert.

Meredith’s ten month recap, a note about the book I read, and on the bottom is M. at craft club and then a bit about how we all got so sick.

This was my favorite part because I love my new cross stitch project (and writing directly on photos is so fun), and I got some new paper and stickers. This is just a hint of what’s to come. I’m so inspired again! And I’m so not a supply hoarder – I can’t wait to use what I bought. :)

This long weekend was just what we needed. My house is clean and organized, I read a hundred pages in my book, caught up on my crafts, got to do some shopping, ate good food, and spent lots of quality time with David and Meredith. And now that we are both 100% over our sickness I’m ready to add running and cooking back into my routine.

    Life is good.
