work in progress : autumn sampler

Remember when I started this autumn sampler back in September and I thought I would complete it on time in a five-week period? Haaaa. Well, that’s okay because it’ll get done in time for next autumn. I’ve been working on it almost every day so far so I’m making good progress. The frames were a bit tedious so now that they’re done I can get to the fun part.

I still haven’t been released to drive yet (hopefully tomorrow!) so I’ve been getting kind of depressed every afternoon. I think it’s a combination of running out of pain meds, hormones, and cabin fever. It’s been very restful to laze on the couch all day, but I think I need to get up and be a little more productive to boost my mood. Starting today I’m going to try to move on to some other things on my to-do list, like writing thank-you notes, starting work on my holiday minibook, and maybe doing some housework here and there. But I’m still going to try and complete a couple squares on this sampler every day as well.

Are you working on anything crafty lately? If you’ve had a maternity leave, how did you spend it?

I did a lot of reading while on maternity leave. I couldn’t quite face the fiddliness of crafting (athough I guess I did catch up on my PL album). Is Meredith at home with you and the baby or at daycare? I was all about sending my older one to daycare so I could get a little rest.

Oh gosh, she is definitely at daycare. There’s no way I could rest otherwise, we’re paying for it anyway, she loves her school, and I think the routine is good for her. She does go in later than usual though. I miss her during the day but I also don’t want to be totally exhausted!

I’m thinking I’m going to make a DIY Valentine’s Day wreath… which means I’d have to procure the design and materials this weekend. Otherwise I’m not really up to anything crafty lately. I’ve been trying to catch up on magazines, blog reading and other things but I’m ready to do something with my hands. Hope you are cleared to drive soon!

I think doing something with your hands is a good idea, it always helps me to keep from being depressed and is a great distraction. I’ve never tried to make a wreath before but your last one turned out so pretty, and I’ve seen some I want to try one day!

I’m doing Frosted Pumpkin’s 2014 sampler and totally agree — doing the border is tedious! I decided to work on mine in bits. I did just enough to create the first block so I could work on the January pattern. I’ll do the rest as I go…

I was actually just thinking about the cross-stitch project because I want to get back into cross-stitching and I really love the concept/design of the sampler. I’m glad you mentioned it!
