Have you heard of Stitch Fix? I’m kind of in love with it. You fill out a comprehensive style profile, then a stylist picks out five items of clothing/accessories for you. You get to try them on in the comfort of your own home, in good lighting with the clothes you already have. In three days you send back what you don’t want and keep the rest. There is a $20 styling fee that goes toward any final purchase.
I decided to try it because I recently got rid of a ton of clothes and I’m looking to kick up my wardrobe a notch. Since I wear scrubs during the week I rarely go clothes shopping for myself and am a huge underspender in this area. So here’s what came in my first box, but keep in mind that this is not styled at all. :)
I asked for summer shirts and dresses so I was happy that they followed through on that. I kept this first black dress; it looks better in real life than in this photo. It was light and so comfortable and I loved that it accentuated my waist (might be hard to tell but there is a top tier to it) while still being flowy. I wore it to church with a tan cardigan and felt great.
The second dress was the opposite as it looks a lot better in this photo than it did in person. I love the stripes but the fabric was thick and hot (not good for summer at all) and it hung straight through the waist while hugging my hips. It was too short for me to wear comfortably on its own but felt a little long to wear with jeans. It was more of a fall dress and I didn’t feel good in it so I sent it back.
This was a wrap sweater thing that had an interesting back. It fit me pretty well but since it was short and sheer I’d have to layer it and I feel like I’d be forcing myself to wear it so I sent it back.
I loved this gingham shirt with chambray trim. It is light, comfortable, fit great, is well made and interesting. It was more than I usually pay for a shirt but I already got a compliment on it from a stranger (and that never happens to me) so I feel good about the purchase.
I was happy that they also sent me a piece of jewelry because I really want to expand on accessories. I kept this aqua leather/gold chain bracelet because it was fun.
So after I made my purchases and sent back what I didn’t want I gave my feedback on each item and I hear each box gets better and better as they get to know your taste and fit. Right now I’m thinking that I’ll get a box every few months. Ready to sign up? I’d love it if you use my referral link which is here and at the beginning of this post.
