  • list 6 : with me at all times

It’s time for Book of Lists! Still loving this little project.

When it came down to it I really didn’t have all that much to put on this list! Just the basics.

    list 6

    my phone

    something to read

    lip ointment

    God

    DSCF4248

In the picture is Lanolin, which I use on my lips, the book I’m currently reading (The Accidental Tourist by Anne Tyler), and my phone. I hate the case it’s in and I’m super excited that I have a new one on the way.

Each month when I get out my Instax camera to take a picture for this project I’m reminded of how much I love it. I’m thinking of doing a month-long Instax challenge sometime this year just for fun! Anyone out there have one? What do you use it for?

Next month: We’ll be posting on June 3 and the topic is “I’d rather be doing.”

  • list 5 : today i saw

    list 5 title

Before I share today’s list I just wanted to say that I still love this quick and fun monthly project. I know I don’t have many people participating, but as I was putting this together (in less than 20 minutes) I was thinking about how perfect it is for me. It’s extremely fast and easy to do, something I can work on even when Meredith is around. It gets me using my Instax camera that I really enjoy but tend to forget about. It’s an excuse to play with paper and washi tape and write with my nice pen. And it captures a snippet of life at the moment. I am planning on sticking with this indefinitely, until I lose my love for it. At some point I want to go back and change up the cover and add a title page as well.

Now on to this month’s topic which is “today I saw.” Just wanted to capture a little bit of daily life.

    list 5

Meredith dancing all-out to worship music

    a gorgeous blue sky

    David’s shaved beard

    my parents

some young moms out for a walk that I wish I could meet and befriend

    church life group

    baby Karley

several episodes of 30 Rock while cross-stitching before bed

    list 5 pic

Next month: We’ll be posting on May 6 and the topic is “with me at all times.”

  • list 4 : i’m good at

This month’s Book of Lists topic is “I’m good at.”

    DSCF4090

This was an encouraging thing for me to think about right now because the last month has been kind of crazy and I haven’t felt all that good at life. But I know that’s just the stress and in reality I am good at a lot of things.

    DSCF4089

     mothering

    singing

    organization

    nursing (both kinds)

    keeping in touch

    getting enough sleep

    routines

    DSCF4092

There are more little things that I know I’m good at but these are the ones that came to me and encompass a lot of my strengths. On a side note, I think I look sickly or something in the Instax photo I took, but I love the way Meredith’s eyes and cheeks look here.

Next month: We’ll be posting on April 1 and the topic is “today I saw.”

  • list 3 : perfect day

Well it’s time for Book of Lists, and the topic is “perfect day.”

    DSCF4056

I chose this topic a month ago when I was anticipating my birthday (which is tomorrow) but now it just seems ironic since I’ve had such a difficult start to the week. My heart is heavy because my beloved uncle, my dad’s twin, passed away yesterday. He was sick and it wasn’t entirely surprising, but he took a downward turn very quickly that we didn’t expect. I have so many thoughts and feelings but mainly I’m sad. Just going through the motions with things for now, so to occupy myself for a short while I made my list to reflect my ideal perfect day.

    DSCF4055

    sleep in

    70 degrees & sunny

M is happy & well behaved

    My whole family is healthy

    No work

A few hours of alone time

    Some kind of treat

    Fun family time

Able to relax with David before bed

    DSCF4057

I can think of so many different “perfect days,” but no matter what I would want to be rested, everyone healthy, and have time alone (to recharge), time with family, and time with David. Great weather and a little extra treat – whether that be ice cream, a pedicure, or finding a great deal shopping – would make it that much better.

Well it’s been nice to dream about days like that even if I’m not currently feeling it. In the midst of all this I know God is watching over my family and I am praying it will bring us closer together and closer to Him.

Next month: We’ll be posting on March 4 and the topic is “I’m good at.” We can all stand to have a little more self-confidence, I think, so let’s talk about it.

  • list 2 : looking forward

First thing: Happy birthday to my husband David. He’s the best and I love him. <3

Welcome back to the Book of Lists! Today’s topic is “looking forward.”

    DSCF4006

As you can see I kept the same format as last month. I still love the way it looks and how easy it is to put together. I decided to keep it simple and just talk about the things I’m looking forward to right this moment.

    DSCF4004

    starting on a quilt

    next date night

Lauren moving to Katy (2 days!)

    Rereading LOTR

    Holding conversations with Meredith

    giving her a sibling

    DSCF4005

I got this shot from my Instax on the first try! So happy that it was easy this time around. A quilt is my big project for this year so I think about it a lot (still in the planning stages obviously). David and I had a date night over the weekend and it was so fun – we went out to eat and saw The Hobbit. So now of course I want to reread Lord of the Rings.

Next month: We’ll be posting on February 4 and the topic is “perfect day” in honor of my birthday which is on the 5th. So you can list the components of your ideal perfect day, or one that you actually had. As always, it’s up to you!
