  • project life 2013 : week 13

This is from the week of March 25-31. It includes Easter and my day in the life record, so even though it only encompasses one week, it is very full. That’s how it goes!

On the left side I tried to include all the more routine parts of our week.

Then there is the day in the life insert. I really like this way of documenting this once-a-month project I’m doing, and I think I’ll keep it the same each time. I am using these page protectors which are perfect for iPhone photos, although they are smaller than 3×4 so I had to cut each photo down. Next time I will remember that and add a border to the photos before printing so I don’t cut off any part of it. The top left pocket will be for the date – that stamp was a special edition from Studio Calico – and I will probably change up the title label from time to time.

    DSCF4195

    Then it’s just photos.

    DSCF4196

If I need to fill up a spot I will do so with filler cards like this one at the end. I thought about adding journaling to the photos themselves, but instead I am choosing just to include my worksheet in full. It gives the best overview anyway and I think it will be fun to go back and read.

Now on to the right side of the spread. The top two thirds of it are all photos and journaling from Easter.

Then the bottom (along with a couple photos on the left page) is devoted to our trip to the antique festival.

This is a really blurry close up picture, but I wanted to show you what I did since I had sooo many vertical pictures this week and hardly any horizontal. For three of the 4×6 pockets I used washi tape to put together two photos that went with each other. It works, but is not my favorite thing to do so much because I think it looks busy. Oh well – I will work on taking more horizontal photos!

  • project life 2013 : weeks 11 – 12

Another Project Life update! I was pretty behind on it, and one of my primary goals on vacation was to catch up. It took me about an hour and a half the other day just to choose, edit, upload, and order photos. Whew. I want to at least stay on top of that part each week so that I’ll have them ready to go when I get some time to put the spread together.

    DSCF4179

This is the weeks of March 11-24. I took a decent amount of photos so for the journal and extras I kept it pretty neutral. Although the spread encompasses two weeks, the photos are not in chronological order so I included dates on most of them.

    Week 11

It was a pretty normal week at home. We had a family shopping outing, had dinner with my brother-in-law & his family, and I went to two baby showers. I started developing pinkeye. The QR code links to a video of Meredith kicking the soccer ball.

    DSCF4181

    Week 12

This was a really blah week. My pinkeye blossomed, Meredith got an ear infection, and we all just had very low energy. There were two high points – a fantastic evening at home, and the birth of my niece Karley.

    DSCF4182

I loved Meredith’s old backpack so much, but it was getting pretty raggedy. She loves her new one too, but I wanted to document the old one.

    DSCF4183

First time to put M’s hair in pigtails, and a few random things that happened.

    DSCF4184

Documenting the blah along with the good. :)

    DSCF4185

    Lovely evening.

    DSCF4186

    Hello Karley!

    DSCF4187

Meredith is so cute with her obsession over family photo books. Maybe she will be a scrapbooker one day. :)

I’m finishing up the next two weeks’ worth of spreads today, and I’ll try to share them both next week. I’ll be caught up at least for one week!

  • project life 2013 : week 10

    DSCF4163

Week 10! This is from March 4-10. Again, it was only one week instead of my usual two because I took a lot of photos that I wanted to include.

    DSCF4164

On the left side is a favorite silly photo of Meredith and me making faces, a bit about my new work shoes, March’s calendar, the refrigerator oatmeal that is a new fave, Meredith shopping with David, and the start of my new cross stitch project.

    DSCF4165

    DSCF4166

On the right is a couple of pictures of our shopping day with Lauren plus journaling. We bought Meredith the anywhere chair from Pottery Barn Kids and I cut a portion from the bag to include. We also got Freebirds for dinner one night and since our last name starts with an “F” I cut that part out of the bag as well. Then there is just a random photo from Saturday breakfast and some quilting progress.

    DSCF4167

That’s it for this week! After today I am on vacation for nine whole days and I can’t wait to get all caught up. I’m not sure if I’ll post daily next week because I’ll have time, or only a couple of times so I can focus on other things. We’ll see how it goes, but either way I’m excited. :)

  • project life 2013 : week 9

    DSCF4148

This spread only encompasses a single week instead of my normal two. After I printed out two weeks’ worth of photos and I looked at my list of things I wanted to include I realized that I would have to cut a whole lot out to combine them so I made the decision to split them up even though it will put me even further behind.

    DSCF4149

This is the week of February 25 to March 3. The photos are not placed chronologically at all; I usually try to keep them somewhat in order but this time they fit better all mixed up. So this side has photos of the fabric I bought for my quilt, my daily morning coffee and Bible study, and a couple of Instax outtakes that I didn’t end up using for the Book of Lists. I journaled about a casual date that David and I had, along with some random tidbits.

    DSCF4150

Originally I didn’t intend to include this yellow color (I’m not drawn to the boldness of it) but I like the journaling prompts and so I included a few pops of it.

    DSCF4151

The left half of the right page is random stuff from the week. The cross stitch project I hung, a picture of Meredith and her cousin Cameron eating at the big table at their grandparents’ house, and the receipt from the piano transport company that delivered my grandmother’s piano back to us. My brother has had it for the past year but it doesn’t fit in their new house so we got it back. I clipped on a photo of Meredith playing on it.

    DSCF4153

Oh, and the above is no longer a valid address so no worries there. :)

The right half of the right page is dedicated to Meredith’s baptism. There are two family photos, a journaling card, and a QR code that links to the video.

    DSCF4152

So I’m several spreads behind now, but my vacation is coming up and I intend to get all caught up!

  • project life 2013 : weeks 7 – 8

I have another Project Life spread for you today. This is from February 11 to 24 and it’s a little different than the normal.

    DSCF4105

These were hard weeks. I didn’t take many photos and little things happened but the focus here was our trip to South Carolina for my uncle’s memorial service.

    DSCF4106

However the week before that was Valentine’s Day, so I did want to feature that a little bit. I made up this random journaling card which I like but I think the hand stitching was kind of a waste of time. I like the way it looks but it would’ve been fine without it too. I can’t wait to relearn how to work my sewing machine so I can start stitching on paper; it’s so much faster that way. I’m excited because my brother’s girlfriend is coming over soon (she does theater costuming for a living and is a sewing whiz) and she’s going to help me figure out the tension problems I’m having with it. :)

    DSCF4107

Since there were lots of other little things that happened that weren’t really a focus, I included them all together on a large card.

    DSCF4108

This is one of the Valentine’s Day cards I made for Meredith to take to her classmates, and a recap of some work I did on setting up the writing desk and bookshelves.

    DSCF4109

Now the right side is all about our trip even though it was only a few days long. That’s okay.

    DSCF4110

I wrote a little recap using the same journaling card twice, just flipped upside down. I love how it bookends the story.

    DSCF4111

And here I just wanted to show how I stuck on the Southwest Air “wings” that Meredith was given and wore all day for her first flight. I was so proud of how well she did!

    DSCF4112

I actually intend to include an insert with the text from this blog post because it contains a lot of the thoughts and feelings from that time, but my printer is currently acting up and I don’t have the time or patience to fix it so that will come later.

Happier spreads to come. Enjoy your Friday and the weekend ahead! :)
