I am recovering from the major blahs. Last week started off with pinkeye followed up with a sore throat, neither of which got me out of work. I have also been plagued by recurrent, almost constant sores on my tongue and inside of my mouth for the past six months and last week they were really bothering me and were enough to make me cry. No idea why I am so susceptible to them but I hate it. Plus I’ve been having these random dizzy spells, possibly related to that time of the month although they are a recent development.
So for most of last week I had little to no energy above and beyond what I needed to get through the basics of the day (sometimes barely even that) and I was also pretty emotional. I didn’t blog or do anything creative because I was feeling supremely uninspired and not excited at all about anything. Then Meredith got sick with a cold and mild ear infection starting on Friday so we tried our best to take it easy all weekend although she was so uncomfortable she coughed and cried all night so we didn’t get much rest. I am tired.
Extra coffee helped, as did a helpful husband to take over the regular chores and parents who love to babysit. One exciting thing that happened was the birth of my new niece Karley. We got to visit her on Friday evening before Meredith’s sickness really hit but because of that we haven’t been able to go back. Meredith loved seeing the real life “baby” (one word she knows really well) although she was NOT a fan of mommy holding anyone other than her.
Despite all this I did manage to get some other stuff in. I finished a Project Life spread and realized that I need to clear off my desk because most of the stuff there I rarely use anymore. I made some slow progress on my current cross stitch project. I got a lot of cutting done for the quilt, and I made it to book club.
Most of the weekend was just spent coddling Meredith though. There were lap naps and some kitchen play and blocks and book reading and lots and lots of holding. I can’t complain too much about that, it was pretty great. And outside it was gloomy and a bit windy/cold so I didn’t feel like we were missing much by staying in. Although I am tired today, I am also optimistic because this is a short week (we get Friday off) and then soon after that is my week off! So nice to have that to look forward to.
Hope you are all having a happy Monday. :)
From Becca:
Try swishing your mouth out with a few tablespoons of water with a drop or two of tea tree oil in it. You can’t ingest tea tree oil, so make sure you get it all spit out, but that stuff gets rid of mouth sores faster than anything else I’ve ever seen. Micah was NOT a believer…until he tried it once!
From kapachino:
I will try anything!! Does it have to be 100% tea tree oil?
From Becca:
That’s what I have used and I think that would work best. I just get it at the health food store and it just says tea tree oil on the bottle. Do you have combined oils? Since you are using it in your mouth I guess I wouldn’t combine it with anything else since essential oils are so strong you really want to make sure you are using it for its intended purposes. Make sure to dilute in enough water that you can swish it around in your mouth. A drop or two should work fine.
From Nora:
Hope that M feels better soon and this week is better for you than last week! I hate weeks like that; they really just mess up one’s groove. It’s a short week for me, too, and I’m so glad to have most of Friday off!
From Sarah:
Ugh, I hate weeks like that. This does seem to be the winter (of blahs) that WILL NOT END. I woke up this morning bound and determined to have a better week. It’s just been one thing after another, between stress, feeling sick, remodel drama, etc. I got a bunch of pictures printed and I’m going to catch up on some PL spreads and blogging this week. If I get super-motived, I might even clean the hall closet!
From Mindy:
I love posts like this–real life, here’s-what’s-up-right-now. I do hope you feel better soon/can rest! (I have to cut back on tomato/orange juice/coffee when I get canker sores… acidic stuff really can get to me sometimes, although I love it.) Hoping this week is a better one for you!
From Cait:
I hope you regain some energy soon! I’ve been sick with a horrible cold that has spanned three weeks and multiple random symptoms, so I understand your pain. Maybe if spring ever decides to truly arrive, the fresh air will clear up all the germs.
From Kim:
Ugh. Sorry you had such a rough week. It’s not fun being sick but it’s worse when it seems to be one thing after another. It looks like you still managed to get a lot done though! Hopefully, you all are feeling much better this week.
