Linking up for randomness again today.
One
In my last post I was humblebragging about what a nice evening we had as a family and then the last two nights have paid me back. The toddler fussiness has increased throughout the week, and last night I just had to abandon my feeble attempts at cooking dinner to feed her snacks and go on a walk just to get her out of the house and be quiet. She had cheese puffs and a popsicle for dinner, so what? I was so tired afterwards that I didn’t eat anything myself and just went to bed.

Had this convo with my mom today:
I really appreciate how seriously she takes my needs.

I can’t help myself so I’m starting to think about baby names. I’m trying to wait to get serious about it until we know the sex (less than two weeks!) but it’s already stressing me out. Tell me, what are you favorite names? If you are saving them for your own children and don’t want to share, what are your favorite names that you can’t use for whatever reason? My husband has already vetoed several of my options (like Alexander for a boy…he thinks it’s too girly, I don’t know, and Nora for a girl because of this girl who was obsessed with him in high school, or so he says).

I rarely use Pinterest just to browse, but I do use it to collect and organize ideas and inspiration. Lately, though, I’ve been getting an inordinate amount of pleasure out of curating the boards I follow. When I first signed up I just followed everyone’s boards that I knew and that was a mistake. I realized that when I browse I don’t want to see recipes or workout tips or quotes or photography. I basically just want to see home design, style, crafts, & DIY. Oh, and cute animals. If I want to see those other things I will specifically search for them. Who are your favorite pinners? I need to do a roundup of mine.
Five
In church last week when I picked up Meredith from Sunday school they were all wearing outfits like this, holding hands and walking in a circle singing a song. They made the armor of God and it was the cutest thing ever. So I guess I forgive her for last night after all.
From lauren:
Nooooo Alexander is such a good name!!!
From Nikki Hanley:
I have a lot of great memories eating ice cream at your parents’ house! And of course at the Forbes’ house. You and David come from 2 ice cream loving families! Which is a good thing
From Becca:
Alexander is Blake’s middle name. So obviously we really liked it. And I think Blake is definitely one boyish boy!
From Nora:
What, no Nora? I’m crushed. Tell him I said so ;)
I had a dream last night that we had twin boys and we named them Alexander and Richard. We called the boy Xander for short.
A friend of mine recently had a baby girl and as such it has had me thinking of names for kids if/when we have them some day. It’s kind of fun! I think we have names should we be fortunate enough to go down that path.
Some of my favorite names for boys: Thadd and Christian and Henry. Girl names: Quinn, Lucy.
From kapachino:
I know, I’ve always loved the name Nora! :) I think he does like it, but he can’t think of anyone except this girl from high school. Lame!
From Sarah:
Omg the toddler whining… It’s about to kill me these days. (Not to scare you or anything, but at our house, 3 years old has been so much worse than 2.)
From David:
You know, both families have a long history with the name David…
From Micaela:
I’m loving the name Gus for a boy right now!
From Cait:
I tend to love girl names that end in A (Emma, Rebecca, Isabella). I never really think of good boy names, although the name Henry suddenly resonated with me recently. Jane is also pretty for a girl, though I’m biased because that was my Nana’s name. My boyfriend likes the names Kendall (for a girl, though I think it can be either gender) and Landon for a boy. He has others (despite jokingly claiming he doesn’t want kids…) but I can’t remember them right now.
From Kerri W.:
Oh, my gosh, Meredith is so gorgeous! I love that photo, too precious. :)
My favorite girl name that we can’t use is Clementine (because, unfortunately, it rhymes completely with our last name, and the poor kid would sound like a cartoon character). Other favorites that I’m considering for the future (but don’t care if anyone “steals”, LOL) are: Cora, Violet, Wren, Felicity, and Mae. Boy name favorites are: Parker and Simon.
And I don’t judge you on the random toddler dinner…sometimes you have to do what you have to do. :)
From kapachino:
I love your names! I don’t know if they would pass the husband test though. I am not sure WHAT will pass the husband test. I think he is in denial that this is actually happening! (He did mention he likes the name Simon before, so if we have a boy there’s a good chance that one will make it in there!)
From Mindy:
Cute post! I loved Norah, and Etta. Etta made it to the table twice, only to be beat by Olivia and Natalie once we saw our girls. If we were to have a third, and it was a girl, it would have to be Etta. :) Also about pinterest… I looove curating my boards and being picky about what I follow lol. It’s bad when you’re out and about and see something and think, “[Pinner I don’t know] would LOVE this!” I don’t have facebook, but I almost think Pinterest is more personal than Facebook would be… but maybe that’s just because I like to express myself creatively.
From Mindy:
PS. Have you been doing Book of Lists? I stopped in July, but would love to continue… maybe I missed an update about that; just checking! :)
