  • project life 2012 : weeks 29 – 30

This is August 12 – 25. Still doing two weeks at a time.

This was when Meredith really took off walking. I also started my project of cataloging and organizing all of my books. We started a bedtime routine, David’s car got totaled & his parents gave us theirs, and M. turned 13 months.

On the right side is just some odds & ends. I included a couple receipts from the night we went shopping as a family and a fortune I got in a fortune cookie. “Happy news is on its way to you.” I had to blur some personal journaling because it’s not my place to share it with the Internet.

I only have a couple hours each weekend to work on personal projects uninterrupted. I’m trying to get myself on a schedule where I do Project Life one weekend and work on the blog the next. Right now I’m not yet caught up but I’m getting there!

David was looking through my album the other day and he was surprised when I told him I plan to continue next year. I do though; it’s still so fun and rewarding! I do plan to purchase a core kit for next year though. When I saw the new seafoam edition I knew it was something I could really use, and some premade cards could save me valuable time.

  • long weekend adventures

I love a long weekend. Seems like that one extra day makes a world of difference. This Labor Day weekend was a good one.

After breakfast on Saturday Meredith and I hopped in the car and headed out to do some errands while we let David sleep in and do his own thing for awhile.

First stop was to pick up a new batch of diapers. I was really hoping once Meredith started walking her legs would thin out and she wouldn’t need to go up in size, but it hasn’t happened yet. The mediums are too tight and leaking too much, so we had to bite the bullet and go for the larges. They look comically big on her, but they are working much better.

We were in the area, so we just had to stop at Target and Old Navy. I found some good stuff in the clearance section.

When we got home we grabbed David and immediately left again. We decided to leave our bank and join a credit union so we needed to get there in plenty of time before it closed. Meredith amused herself with my wallet. She was unimpressed with my lack of cash.

That evening we didn’t have any plans so we just hung around the house. I made a lot of progress on my current cross stitch project that I’ve been working on for months.

    Sunday morning was church.

Then we went to lunch at Chuy’s for Mexican food with my whole family. We were celebrating my brother’s birthday – the baby of the family is 27 years old and the biggest of all of us. Meredith kept throwing things across the room so we distracted her with beans and guacamole.

While at lunch we begged asked my parents to babysit that night so we could go on a date. We’re really trying to make this a priority and so far we’ve been able to fit it in every couple of weeks. Since I chose the last movie we went to, David chose this one. We saw The Possession and after I was freaked out by the previews I questioned what on earth I was doing there, but it ended up being tolerably scary.

Monday morning we had breakfast with David’s family and it was delicious. And it’s always so much fun watching the cousins play together.

For most of the day Monday David watched Meredith and took her shopping, giving me lots of alone time at home. I got a spread of Project Life done (to be shared tomorrow), made brownies, and did some housework. Then that night we went to his brother’s house for burgers and hot dogs before winding down at home and getting ready for the week.

The best part is, I have another long weekend coming up! I took a full day off next Monday for a dentist appointment and plan to spend the rest of it indulging myself in pampering, relaxation, and whatever else I feel like. :)

  • meredith at 13 Months

I thought I was done with the monthly updates! I’m certainly done with the monthly photoshoots; those things were getting stressful. Meredith isn’t developing as fast physically anymore, but everything else is changing so rapidly that I can hardly keep up. I think she learned at least three new skills over the weekend alone. So here’s the highlights of what’s up with her now.

Not only is she walking, but she practically runs. And most of the time it’s with her hands straight up in the air like a victory V. Perhaps she was inspired by the Olympic gymnasts.

She can finally stack the blocks on her own instead of just throwing them. Of course her favorite thing is still to knock them over, but I have seen her get up to four high. (Proud mom here, clearly.) She also initiates peekaboo now which is pretty much the cutest thing.

One thing she loves to do is hand people things. She’s a great little helper with the laundry, especially with her diapers. She hands me each piece out of the dryer one by one while I fold and stuff. (This is also a fantastic quality because if she gets ahold of something she shouldn’t have, most of the time I can just hold out my hand for it and she’s happy to hand it over.)

She can clap now! And say “uh oh”! And she’s laughing waaaay more than she used to, especially if you act like you’re chasing her.

The best thing, though, is that she gives kisses. Slimy, wet, open-mouthed, beautiful kisses.

She also doesn’t nap on the weekends. And the other day she took her diaper off and ate her own poop, so I guess nobody’s perfect. :)

  • August Loves

// Jewel’s Lullaby album. We listen to it every night and sometimes in the car. It’s so pretty and soothing and perfect.

// Dark chocolate m&m’s. I have a serious problem with these. I buy them by the pound and go through at least a bag a week. Hey, I’m just being honest here.

// HGTV magazine. I’m overrun with unread magazines right now, but this one is released quarterly and it’s always the first to get read. I’ve gotten so many ideas from it.

// Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara. You have no idea how happy I am to have found a natural mascara that really works.

// Kindle Touch. I’m not new to the e-reader party, but my husband has been letting me use his Kindle lately and it’s soooo much better than the old Sony Reader I had been using.

// Old Navy baby clothes, like this shirt we got as a gift. We also have a lot of hand-me-downs from a friend, and my favorites have almost all been from here. They are so cute, and cheap too!
