Really good weekend. I got the quilt fabric all prepared – trimmed, washed, dried, and ironed. Ready to cut!

Spent several hours with my good friend Lauren on Saturday shopping. We walked around Highland Village and spent a gift card that Lauren gave Meredith and came home with an awesome new chair for her that we never would have sprung for otherwise. Meredith is obsessed with it and was super happy all day.

Lately I started letting Meredith sit on my lap for dinner when she’s fussy just to make it through the evening, and unfortunately she now refuses to sit in her high chair. I should have seen that one coming. In truth I don’t mind too much but it’s also kind of ridiculous.

Made my second batch of refrigerator oatmeal. The first time around I went strictly by the recipe but it was too runny and yogurty for my taste so I made some adjustments; it has such potential so I hope this one turns out well.

Started a new cross stitch project in an effort to have one going at all times. This one is a Victorian floral and it has lots of different colors so it should be fun and a nice change from my last project. The beginning of a new one is always so pathetic though.

Here’s to a good week!

That does sound like a good weekend! I am attempting to recuperate from a weekend of hosting family and sending my husband off on a week-long mission trip. Question for you: where do you find good cross stitch or embroidery patterns? (That aren’t super country or old-lady-ish)

Having guests is fun but it is exhausting…kind of nice to get back to normal routine!

My favorite places for cross stitch patterns are Etsy and Cross Stitcher magazine. Check out this blog post from a fellow cross stitcher too, I agree with all of her recommendations! I don’t have any of the books but I want them.

Thanks! So far I’ve really loved almost everything from Posie: Rosy Little Things, although a lot of it is pretty girly for a soon-to-be mom of 2 boys!

Oh I love her stuff. One day I’ll treat myself to one of her patterns or maybe a kit. :)

I like the looks of the refrigerated oatmeal. Is it good? That would be a great change for the summer.

It turned out pretty good! This is what I put in this time:

      -1/2 c oatmeal
      -between 1/3 and 1/2 c milk
-two-ish spoon globs of plain Greek yogurt (you can tell I was very precise with it)
      -two teaspoons of maple syrup
-blueberries to fill the rest of the jar
-the recipe calls for 1-2 teaspoons chia seeds, I ran out this time but they are healthy to include

This is all in the half pint mason jar. Refrigerate overnight – I recommend!

I love the refrigerator oatmeal! I have it a lot as a mid-morning snack at school – the kids are fascinated by it! My current recipe is 1/4 c oatmeal, slightly more than 1/4 c milk, 1 tsp chia seeds, about 2 tsp maple syrup, and 2 heaping spoonfuls of vanilla Greek (probably around 1/3 c, but I never measure). To that I add either frozen mango chunks or dried cherries and about a tablespoon of slivered almonds. Have you tried the Yummy Life’s crockpot overnight steel cut oats? It’s fantastic, especially on cold mornings!
