But most of you probably already knew that, considering I’ve been talking about it on Twitter and Facebook, and am not exactly timely in getting this post up. But yep, it’s most definitely a boy, no question about it, little guy was not shy at all and David was quite proud.

So, I have thoughts and they are thus:

1. Yay! A boy! I know deep down that’s what David wanted and I’m so happy he’ll have a little guy to teach to be a man and I’ll get to find out what it’s like to mother a boy. It will be different and fun and exciting.

2. I guess this means I’ll have to make some changes to the nursery to make it less girly and more neutral. I still intend to have Meredith share the room with the baby for awhile, until she gets old enough to move her into her own room (and when I have the energy to turn our guest room into a kids’ room). Kind of a bummer that the kids won’t always be able to share a room.

3. A little worried because it seems like boys are more energetic overall and I’m just a really calm, laid-back person. I’m not the type of mom to play rough and tumble or to be running around all the time. Maybe Meredith will have a calming effect on him.

4. Boy names are not nearly as fun as girl names. This part is going to be tough.

5. Can’t reuse all of Meredith’s clothes either. Although I do have two nephews so that will help in the hand-me-down department.

6. I still just can’t imagine what it’ll be like to have a boy…but I guess I will find out!

Congratulations! I’m a mama to two boys and while I’m not the kind to play rough and tumble either, I have to admit, sometimes it’s fun! And also, daddies are GREAT at that, so I bet your little one will have lots of fun with your husband. It is a bit of a bummer about not being able to reuse Meredith’s clothes (and boys’ clothing departments are not nearly as fun as the girl sides!), but boys are fun and I can’t imagine my life without Matchbox cars and dirt and sticks and dump trucks! :-)

I’m pretty laidback and it doesn’t backfire with my boys at all. In fact, we have friends
with girls and they are more rough and tumble than our boys.

Boy names really aren’t as fun to pick out! As far as them being too energetic, Elijah is but so was I. I think the parents have a lot to do with it and the personality of the kiddo. So, you could have had a wild girl, but maybe you will get a chill boy instead. Even it you don’t, he will enjoy you for you because you love him.

I’m so excited for you guys! My SIL is very much like you and she can handle my rough and tumble nephew just fine. You can do it! :) I’ll also add that shopping for boys clothes isn’t as fun because they always have, like, 5 racks of girl’s clothes for each rack of boy’s clothes. I always have such a hard time finding cute things for my nephew!

One of the reasons I don’t want to have a second baby is that we only have two bedrooms, no extra for a new baby. After all the sleep training and the difficulties we still have, I don’t want newborn sleep schedules to make Miss Screamy No-Napper get any worse.

Aww! Congrats! Every child is different, of course, but I’ve noticed boys feed off each other. One boy acts a lot different than 2 boys together, etc. Like someone else said, dads are great for the rough stuff, as are boy cousins and neighbor boys. My particular boy has always been more interested than the girls in exploring creatures and how things work. I think you just find ways to relate to kids in your own way, I do more “Hey look at this cool thing I found!” With him than “Let’s wrestle!” We always struggled to find boy names we both liked, maybe that’s why we have so many girls!
