meredith at ten months

May 21, 2012

She: >Was totally not in the mood for this photoshoot. It’s kind of a miracle it happened at all. >Wears 12-18 month clothes now, and we won’t buy anything smaller than 18 months because of her rapidly expanding thighs. If only they were as cute on me as they are on her. >Still waves sometimes, but she’s more into pointing these days. >Plays with her hair for comfort (see above picture). >Stands! And cruises! She got hold of a stable walking toy the other day at her grandparents’ house and walked across two rooms. Maybe she’ll be walking by her first birthday after all. >Is resisting going to sleep at night more and more. On the nights that we are…

what i read : april 2012

May 17, 2012

You guys, I was in a total reading slump in April. One nonfiction book on marriage and three children’s books, two of them audio. Sorry. I promise I picked it up in May (so far)! The Proper Care and Feeding of Marriage by Dr. Laura Schlessinger It’s about: The title kind of says it all, doesn’t it? But I just want to add, in case you don’t know who Dr. Laura is, that she is a trained family counselor with many years of experience who now has a radio show. Her fans are rabidly devoted and my husband is among them. I read this on his recommendation. I thought: I find that I agree very much with almost everything she says,…

it’s mother’s day and i’m someone’s mommy.

May 13, 2012

I was super spoiled today. It was better than my birthday, I think. My husband said that being a mom is more important than just having a birthday, but I don’t know – I have to make it another year to continue being a mommy! Regardless, he treated me. Meredith woke up at 5:45 a.m., like she does, but instead of getting up I just nudged him and he took her without complaining and I slept another glorious two hours. When I arose I was met with a balloon, flower, sweet card, and a pretty pair of earrings. (I was also allowed to shop for myself yesterday guilt free.) He made me coffee and breakfast and continued taking care of…

project life 2012 : weeks 12 – 13

May 9, 2012

I’m not completely caught up – still haven’t really started last week, although I do have the pictures printed – but I did power through the previous two weeks so here they are, before I get too far behind in sharing! Week 12: Week twelve had a brighter color scheme than is my norm. I like it though. I do try to keep each spread somewhat unified in terms of colors and feel, although it doesn’t always turn out that way. Here I was going for deep pink, orange, yellow, and blue. The weekly quotes are kind of getting hard to find! I like them to be on the subject of love, life, and home mostly, because that’s what my…

perfect weekend.

May 7, 2012

I love – love – weekends where I don’t have plans. Most of the time plans are fun, but there’s nothing like free time. This weekend was good like that. If I could, I would start every Saturday this way: Wake up to a smiling baby ready to play. It’s early, but it’s okay because I went to bed early too. First things first. Have a cup of coffee and some breakfast while I read for a little while. Baby is playing happily on the ground. Get some laundry started. Meredith amuses herself – who needs a fancy water table when you have the toilet? Go for a run. It’s not too hot out yet and best not to put it…
