Obsession: Pop Chips

June 17, 2010

Now, I’ve never been a huge chip person. Sure, I’ll go for the occasional Cheeto, and of course I can never turn down a tortilla chip if queso is involved. But chips by themselves have never been my snack of choice.

But THESE. Y’all, I have a new addiction. A Pop Chip addiction. One of my friends has been raving about them for ages, and the other day when I was in Georgia’s Farm to Market I saw them by the register. I had no idea they were all-natural! It was destiny! I had to try them. I bought two flavors: cheddar and salt & vinegar.

In one day, the entire bag of cheddar has somehow disappeared. The salt & vinegar isn’t far behind. What’s so great about these? Let me tell you. They are not fried, so they’re healthy – as long as you don’t eat the whole bag at once, I suppose. It’s an easy thing to do, as I have recently demonstrated, because they’re so delish. Nothing against baked chips, which I don’t mind, but the popped version is far superior.

As far as I can tell, Pop Chips have only two downsides. One, not enough chips in the bag. I’d probably say that no matter how many there actually were, though. And two, it’s going to be hard to keep them all to myself. I mean, I discovered them, I bought them with my own money, so I should get to eat them all, right? No reason at all that my husband should get any, unless I’m feeling particularly generous, or he goes above and beyond his normal duties. I’m thinking cleaning the bathtubs (worst chore ever), walking all three dogs at once, and then giving me a foot rub.

I suppose that would earn him a Pop Chip.

I only tried the plain version and I hated them. I need to try another variety. I’ve heard good things about them! (They are a bit pricey though for the amount in the bag!)

Use Comet and a scrub brush to clean the tub. It takes 3 minutes and it’s sparkley shiny!

    From kapachino:

Definitely try another flavor! I can see how the plain version might be unremarkable, but I’ve never tried it. The cheddar is particularly good.

HAHA I love that he deserves A chip for his efforts! Hilarious :) I’ve never even heard of these before – maybe they’re only in the states? I’m a full-on chip addict. I could eat a bag a day!

    From Ashley:

I just saw them at the grocery store, but I was dissuaded by the price. I’ll have to give them a try some time.

Okay, I have to tell you I am a chip freak, my big weakness, and I try to eat healthy now, so I discovered them a while back and totally addicted, the barbeque is by far the best. I will tell you a little secret I found, order them online at popchips.com, no tax or shipping and you get a case and then end up being only 2.10 a bag, you can get individual serving bags too, but that’s not enough. Sorry, I’m rambling now, take care.

Oh my goodness! Thank you so much! I am going to order my case today, and I’ll definitely pass this on to the friend that introduced me to Pop Chips in the first place. :)

I JUST read about this in a local newspaper. I’m dying to try these. I’ve heard they’re pretty tasty and I’m glad you agree. I can’t wait to find them.

    From Sarah:

AHH! I tried these a few months ago and fell in love! I thought I was the only one who had ever heard of them – since you can’t get them many places. Right on with the Pop Chips!

Ok I just tried them. SO GOOD. These are definitely a love. FYI if you have trader joe’s anywhere near you they have the same thing as a trader joe’s brand and they are scrumptious.

    From kapachino:

We don’t have a Trader Joe’s, so I guess I’ll be sticking to Pop Chips!

    From LiLu:

Hmmmm. These are at my corner store but I’ve never tried them… must fix!

    From Nora:

I have never heard of them. I may have to track them down! Sometimes we mid-westerners don’t have the same food stuffs but I’m going to look out for them. Anything cheese related is usually a-ok in my book :)

    From Jenna:

I love the plain version the most! My parents buy these and I love them. WAAAAYYYYY too easy to eat the whole bag though.

    From shelly:

So addicted to them its not even funny.. I’m sure that they aren’t healthy for me anymore, because I eat way too many…I don’t know what makes them so addictive, and I only crave the original flavor. I’ve already had 2 bags this morning….YIKES!
