Friday Things: On My Mind

March 26, 2010

Friday is the day of randomness, right?

Retirement

Not mine, unfortunately. My mentor, the woman who showed me what a good nurse looks like, is retiring in a week. I am sad but so excited for her. I am in charge of collecting money and procuring a gift for her from our entire unit, and I feel a lot of pressure re: this.

Netflix

I’m so excited that Netflix streaming will soon be available for Wii. That will help SO MUCH with my goal of watching all the movies that have won Best Picture.

My teeth

I can sympathize with my nephew because I’m teething and it is terrible. Technically I’ve been teething for years as my wisdom teeth have slowly been pushing their way out, but as they are coming in sideways they aren’t making much progress. I have had pain off and on for quite awhile, but the last couple days have been the worst. My gums are inflamed and I can’t eat hard foods. Recently I begged my dentist to send me to an oral surgeon to get them removed (because in addition I have chronic TMJ problems that this only complicates) and he agreed. I get them out the last week in April and it can’t come soon enough.

Weekend

I’m really looking forward to this weekend. My plans are to visit the farmer’s market, hang out with a friend, attend a wedding, go to church, and paint a couple rooms in our house.

What’s on your mind?

    From Stephany:

Ugh, I remember when my wisdom teeth were coming in. Awful, awful pain. I can definitely sympathize with those teething babies! I really need to get my wisdom teeth removed but I’m scared to death (and I don’t have health insurance right now, so that option is out the window for a while, ha! It’s probably not PC to talk about health insurance in a comment now, is it? Yikes.)

Anyway, I have homework, homework, and more homework on my agenda for today. Be jealous. ;)

I’m going to a wedding this weekend too! Mine is a friend from CGN…it wouldn’t happen to be the same wedding, would it??

    From kapachino:

Nope, mine’s a friend from high school. Who from CGN is getting married?

    From Laura:

Ah! I meant to reply to this DAYS ago! I’m sorry! It was Shaynee’s wedding.

    From kapachino:

Oh cool! My brother was good friends with Shaynee, but I only met her once or twice.

    From Scott:

Netflix streaming is awesome – we use it all the time!

    From Kyla Roma:

We don’t have netflix up here and it drives me crazy- I would love it! I remember when I used to be in the US and play with my sister in law’s DVR like it was from the future, waiting for it to come to Canada. When Netflix gets up here I’ll be very happy =)

What’s on my mind right now is sewing- I was in a workshop today that was cancelled and I’m going to try playing with my machine on my own instead.

    From steph anne:

I can’t wait for NetFlix to do that with Wii… I’ve wanted to sign up with NetFlix a long time ago but didn’t because it wasn’t closed captioned online. Now I can officially cancel my $30/month membership with Blockbuster and do NetFlix with Wii. SOOO EXCITED!

    From Emily Jane:

I hope you had a wonderful weekend! We just asked our landlord if we could paint sometime soon… he’s selling the house after us, so in my world we’re doing him a favour, right? I just can’t wait to have colour on the walls!
