Yesterday I shared with you that I’m totally overwhelmed by extra projects, and today I’m going to show you what they are. :)

quilt front

quilt back

First of all we have the quilt that I’ve been making forever. I was planning on backing it with plain navy fabric, but I didn’t have enough so I patched together these rows and just threw it together quickly. It’s fine. I think I would have preferred the plain, but oh well. Next steps here are pressing and basting the layers together with the batting. I think I am going to machine quilt the long lines and then hand quilt around each triangle. However, for the moment I’m taking a step back from the quilt to focus on other things.

liam's stocking

Like Liam’s stocking! Over the weekend I finished the top including the personalization, which is the most annoying part to do but is also the most special. I am finding that I really love felt needlepoint, and I’d like to make some ornaments and possibly an advent calendar during the fall, so I’m going to try and finish this stocking during the summer.

runner

This is a table runner I’m making for our dresser, tutorial found here. It’s so simple and cute. I want to get this done pretty quickly so I can move on and share some updated photos of that part of our room with you.

cannas

Lastly, I was gifted a bunch of flowers: canna lilies, irises, and amaryllis. I’m in the process of clearing out a bed for them, but I think I may have to pot them in the meantime. I’m excited about the prospect of growing flowers but I’m afraid I will kill them!

What are you working on these days?

    From Jen:

That’s my problem with buying flowers. I want to so badly, but it’s a really expensive investment for me to just kill them. Ugh.

    From Nora:

I’m working on…. getting through the day!? (Ha, I kid. I’m not really that dramatic, I swear.) The next project I’m working on is rearranging the photos and artwork we have for my bonus kids’ room. I used to like it but suddenly it seems far too cluttered and I need to make some changes to it. I have no crafts right now that I’m working on- should probably change that as they are usually a Zen place for me.

I think your quilt it great! Love the colors and interest you added to the back.

    From Sarah:

I’m working on a cross stitch sampler but other than that, I don’t have any craft projects going on! Feels a little weird.

I like the patched rows on the back! I’ve decided that I like pieced backs in general — it’s like making the quilt reversible, even though it takes more time.

    From Kara:

I’m debating on whether or not I want to tear out a big bushy/flowering plant that’s growing in our front flower bed. I have no idea what it is, and it smells horrendous when in bloom. (I’d describe it’s actual smell, but it’s not exactly PG-rated…) I’m bad at keeping plants alive, but luckily, the flowerbed is hooked up to our underground sprinklers, so they always get water. Win!

I have no projects on the go at the moment, but my spare time is being consumed by my insurance agent course. (Snorefest!)

    From yours truly, melissa:

So good that you’re knocking out Liam’s stocking in the summer. I of course don’t think of things like stockings (we still don’t have any) until November and then I get overwhelmed and don’t bother.

I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of the table runner! Looks really cute :)

That was my problem the last couple years…this year I am trying to be prepared!
