texas style council 2015

Hi friends! I made it back from Texas Style Council, and it was everything I hoped it’d be. I do plan to do a more complete recap of the weekend, but my head and heart are still swirling with thoughts and emotions that I want to process before I really write about it.

I went with the purpose of making friends and having fun, and I totally did both of those. Being a volunteer was 100% the right choice for me because it allowed me to connect more quickly and easily with a smaller group of people rather than getting overwhelmed with 200 at once. I wouldn’t say it was a restful weekend because we did work hard and stay busy – not to mention there was no way I could stick with my 8:30pm bedtime ;) – but it was definitely rejuvenating for my soul.

I’m also really happy to report that the kids did great while I was gone! I think Liam was a bit fussy and restless at night, but that’s kind of how he is with me anyway because he is teething. I was concerned since he still nurses several times a day, but he was a pretty happy guy when he was awake (so I’m told) and he went right back to our pattern of nursing when I came home so looks like this phase of our relationship isn’t over yet.

I had the day off yesterday and wanted to get a lot done, but I didn’t have the heart to send the kids to daycare so we mostly hung out. Today we are back to our routine and although it feels good, I miss my new camp friends! I also have so many creative ideas that I want to make time to pursue, but that seems to be the great struggle of my life. :)

Anyway, I was kind of off the grid over the weekend (I had terrible service) so I’m excited to get plugged back in. Hopefully I’ll be back later this week or next with a complete recap of the event. I can’t wait to introduce you to some of the lovely ladies I met. Yay sisterhood!

p.s. that adorable greeting card was made by Meg of Belle & Union. Love her stuff!

I’m so looking forward to hearing more about your experience. I’d vaguely heard of TX Style Council but assumed it was for fashion bloggers… So when I saw that you were going I became so intrigued & really wished I was there! Looked so fun!!! Maybe next year…?

Welcome back, I’m looking forward to hearing more! I’m planning to go to a weekend bloggers event in October – it’ll be the first time I’ve left the kids with Nathan overnight (or for more than three hours!) so I’m not sure what to expect – but I am SO looking forward to it!

I think you are a genius for thinking about how you would feel most comfortable / meet the most people through volunteering. I would be the same. I do better in small groups or if I am in a leadership role than just being part of the general mix. I need to remember this and put it to use in the future.
