Today I’m sharing some stuff I found around the internet. Enjoy!

I don’t have time to watch TV anymore, but I’m still addicted to Ashley’s bachelor/ette recaps.

If only I had time and money to complete all the online workshops I want to. This iPhone photography e-course would be perfect for me since my iPhone is currently my only camera.

How to make a peg loom. I still have the loom I made with spare wood and nails, but I really like this method and looks like it’d be easier to do, too!

I am dying over this DIY woven bench. We really need a couple benches in our house and all of the materials are so affordable. I really hope I can make this one happen.

I made these chocolate coconut energy bars last weekend with my hand-me-down blender and even though mine turned out kind of liquid before I refrigerated them (I think I over-processed the nuts) they were still really good!

This bedroom is one of my new favorites. I think we could do a lot of similar things with our bedroom. We already have the white walls and a similar dresser, and I’m working on the gallery wall.

    Happy Memorial Day weekend!

    > somehow I always end up with more craft supplies than I need. It’d be fun to take this crash course to get ideas on how to use up what I have.

    > a lovely anecdote + thoughts about eating at the table, something that is so important to me.

    > did you know that Craftsy offers some free mini classes? I didn’t! I signed up for the basic quiltmaking one.

    > something serious for you if you’re up for it: a raw and honest update my friend Nora wrote on her feelings of grief as she processes her mother’s death.

    > and something totally not serious: hamsters eating tiny burritos. Ahhhh

    > have you heard of the free app Artkive? It’s a place to store photos of your kids’ artwork, which you can then make books out of. I have a stack of Meredith’s “art” that I intend to one day photograph, and I like that I could have a dedicated place to store it.

    >I’m in love with this photo/story book. It looks intense to make but so special.

    >breakfast casserole is my love language.

    >two home diy’s that I want to try: a hanging mirror and three-tier indoor rope planter

    >I am just obsessed with this dress, I want it sooo bad! I don’t think it’ll ever happen though.

    >more and more I want to try art journaling

That was a lot of artsy links this time around. I must need a creative outlet! I hope I can fit something in this weekend. I think for Mother’s Day I might just ask for a couple hours off. If only I could have a couple hours where my kids would just play happily in the same room as me without demanding anything from me…then it would be perfect. :)

    > Rachel makes me want to try art journaling.

    > I just came across this sewing/craft room and it’s so inspiring.

    > Stephany has been writing weekly weigh-in posts and it’s been very encouraging for me as I try to get healthy again.

    > two relatively new podcasts that I look forward to every week are Elise Gets Crafty and The Lively Show.

    Happy weekend!

  • just for fun craft inspiration

Here are a few ideas for “just for fun” crafts that I might try this month to fulfill one of my goals. They are all super simple and cute, so maybe I’ll get to all of them before too long!

    just for fun craft inspiration

    1. himmeli – my hanging plant is dying so I want something to hang in its place and this looks cute. The straw version probably wouldn’t be significant enough for that spot but I’d like to try it first before I take on a bigger version like this.

    2. sharpie-decorated mug – I’ve seen tutorials on this a bunch of places, but I really want to do it because I don’t have any fun mugs at all.

    3. painted vase – I have a bunch of boring clear vases that this would be perfect for. Such a simple touch but it makes a big difference.

    4. leather shape keychain – my car key broke off from the rest of my keys and since it’s the main one I use anyway I’d love to make it a keychain for itself. If I don’t do this soon I will probably lose my key at some point. :)

    5. stained letterpress block – I need more simple, cute, graphic decorations for random places. Love this idea.

  • Women’s Novels

I just read this piece by Margaret Atwood on novels written for women versus men, and it is good, of course, but this one part stuck out to me and I had to share because YES:

I no longer want to read about anything sad. Anything violent, anything disturbing, anything like that. No funerals at the end, though there can be some in the middle. If there must be deaths, let there be resurrections, or at least a heaven so we know where we are. Depression and squalor are for those under twenty-five; they can take it, they even like it, they still have enough time left. But real life is bad for you; hold it in your hand long enough and you’ll get pimples and become feebleminded. You’ll go blind. I want happiness, guaranteed, joy all around.

I’m thirty years old now and I have a kid. I have lots of emotions and worries and fears. Give me Jane Austen any day.
