San Antonio, The Rest Of The Story

October 6, 2009

So anyway, I kind of got carried away with the penguins there, but David and I actually did do other things in San Antonio other than obsess over sea animals. We stayed in this lovely bed and breakfast, the King William Manor, which I highly recommend to anyone: I can’t tell you enough how much I loved staying in a bed and breakfast instead of a hotel. I feel like I can’t go back now! I loved how homey it felt. I loved having a host. I loved that each room was unique. I loved being served breakfast in the morning at whatever time I asked. It was just adorable. On our one full day in San Antonio we spent…

SeaWorld, But Most Importantly, PENGUINS

October 5, 2009

Y’all, I had a good weekend. I mean, it was really good. Check it out: DAY ONE We woke up at 5:30 a.m. and left the house a little after 7 a.m. On the way I made David pull over so I could get coffee about an hour outside of San Antonio. I wonder when I became that kind of coffee drinker? (Incidentally, who knew Valero has such good cappuccinos?) We parked at SeaWorld and walked to the gate only to be told to come back when I wasn’t trying to sneak pepper spray into the park. When we finally made it inside, the first thing we did was go on a ride. I love roller coasters, and although they…

things i love about my husband

September 30, 2009

One of my goals is to write David a list of 100 things I love about him, and this is the perfect time for that. Here are 90 of those things, because the other ten are just for us. He remembers everything I say. He likes to run errands. I rarely have to do the grocery shopping. He made up “Family Bed Time” for us and the dogs, where we spend time loving on them, cuddling, and talking when we get home from work. His warm soft body, especially because I’m always cold! Listening to him softly snore in the morning. How he can fall asleep in 2 seconds no matter where he is. All his little noises. Our “lang”….

#15. Drink 64 oz. of water a day for a week: My Thoughts

September 26, 2009

There is nothing wrong with my kidneys. I peed. A lot. I now know what it might be like to have diabetes insipidus. Drinking this much water and being a nurse aren’t mutually exclusive, but almost. It’s better to drink the bulk of the volume in the morning rather than at night. Did I mention that I peed a lot? Y’all, it was NONSTOP. Other than the peeing, which was the main observation that I made this past week, I’m not sure if I have much else to report. Maybe if I kept this kind of hydration up I would get less headaches or have more energy or something, but I can’t say that after only one week. I think…

#7. Do A Bike Race: Tour de Pink Recap!

September 13, 2009

This morning I rode in my first ever biking event. It was a lot of fun and I definitely want to do more like it. Whenever I thought about it yesterday, I got nervous. Mainly just because I had never done this type of race before so I was afraid of not being prepared and not knowing where to go or what to do. It wasn’t timed or competitive, so I wasn’t worried about doing well. And since this was my first time, I chose to go the shortest distance, 12 miles, which is less than I routinely ride so I knew it would be easy. My wonderful husband came with me because I didn’t know anyone else, but he…
