  • It’s Not Just For Looking Pretty

Oh right, I have a blog, and it’s something I’m supposed to WRITE in. I guess I’ve given myself kind of a break, because of the whole my-husband-had-surgery-right-before-we-moved-into-our-new-house business. We are having a lot of fun being there, but it sure is a lot of work. We still have a lot of walls to paint, fixtures, furniture, and other necessities to buy, as well as unpacking and organizing to do. There are times when it’s overwhelming, because I simply don’t have the time or energy to get it all done anytime soon, which is what my personality dictates. David told me the other day, “You know how I can tell that you’ve been really tired lately? I can leave a mess in the living room and you don’t even say anything.”

Anyway, my sister-in-law gave me a hard time about neglecting this thing yesterday, so please accept my apologies. I will try to do better. SO…here are some things that have happened:

    >My husband had surgery for a condition he has in his hips. It’s going to be a long, difficult process to fix, and please pray for him because he’s in a lot of pain all the time.

    >One of our dogs, Eddy, probably tore her ACL. The vet said it could just be sprained, but after two weeks of rest and a week of anti-inflammatories, she’s still not putting any pressure on it. Poor girl wants to be just like her dad.

    >I was the matron of honor in a wedding, and I gave my first toast. I was really nervous, but it went well. David danced with me on his crutches, and it was cute.

    >Christmas came and went. I worked on the 25th, and it was the busiest day I’d had in weeks. Only the sickest of the sick don’t get to go home for Christmas. No fun.

    >BUT, we celebrated the night before with David’s family, and the day after with my family. It was all very merry. I don’t have any pictures because my camera is dead, I lost the charger somewhere along the way of the 5 houses we stayed in, and the new one I ordered doesn’t work.

    >The book we’re reading now for book club, The Pillars of the Earth, is excellent.

One more thing: If you are a friend of mine, and you are a female, and you live somewhere in my vicinity, and you are interested in being my bike riding buddy, please let me know! This year I am resolving to use the nice road bike I have, and enter a race at some point. But I won’t ride alone, so that makes it difficult.

Alright, that’s what I’ve got for now. Happy Sunday!

  • Meet MagsMac

I would like to introduce you to my brother’s girlfriend Margaret, who is way cooler than I am. She is a social media queen, and since my brother designs websites, it was only a matter of time until their two talents combined and she began a blog of her own.

Visit her at MagsMac ‘n’ Cheese!

P.S. I am aware that my blog is now requesting you to sign in to Twitter. I have no idea why. I am looking into it. But in the meantime, why not sign up for Twitter? You may like it.

  • Hang With Me

Hello, I just want to say that unfortunately I no longer have internet access at my apartment. I am moving at the end of the week and my roommate accidentally had it cut off early. Therefore posting will be scarce this week, but I will do my best! But, now it is past my bedtime.

  • What Google Brings Me

So, I’m finished with school now. For real this time, I think. Of course, I do still have to pass the board exam, but no matter what, I will have my bachelor’s of science in nursing! Most of my classmates were going to Rice Village to celebrate, but me? Nah. I had a brownie, cleaned my room, read a magazine, and I plan to use the rest of the day writing to my pen pal, researching new cars, and of course watching “Dancing with the Stars.” I like my way of celebrating much better.

So to keep it light, because this is how I’m feeling right now, I have decided to share with you some snapshots of phrases people have used in search engines that have led them to this website. Probably my posts for the rest of the week will be similarly mindless because hello? I have been in college for eight years and I’m NOT anymore! I need at least a week to recover.

    So here you go:

“My brother is hot” – Mine are too! Especially here and here.

“Cracked and injured toenail coming off” – It has been over a year since I wrote about my toenail coming off, and I am still getting constant hits from that post. Maybe I should start a support group.

“i am broke and i can’t pay my bills and i can’t eat” – I know how you feel, friend. My suggestion? Find yourself some clinical trials for healthy volunteers to participate in.

“would breathing in bad smell harm unborn baby” – I don’t know but if so, be sure not to come anywhere close to the house where I pet-sit because those dogs have some serious intestinal hyperactivity.

  • Miscellaneous Internet Things

    • The beginnings of our wedding website are up. Although right now it’s just a “coming soon” site, I’m still excited about it. My brother, of course, is designing it. Find it at davidandkathleen.net. [ETA: website is no longer in operation.]
    • I don’t know if anyone was viewing my photo of the day, but you might have noticed that it hasn’t changed in awhile. This is because that feature isn’t working well and we can’t figure it out. So enjoy the coconut for awhile longer while we work on installing a photo of the day feature that actually works. When that time comes there will actually be a daily photo, not a monthly one.
    • I discovered Twitter, and I love it. Twitter is like mini-blogging; you basically update on what you’re doing. At first glance I thought it was stupid, but now I think it’s great. What changed my mind is the fact that you can set the updates from your friends to come to your phone, and you can send updates from your phone too. Also, updates don’t have to be boring! So anyway, I think it’s great but it would be awesome if I actually had friends doing it with me. At the moment I only have one. So find me and give it a try!
