  • project life 2014 : weeks 29 – 30

Today’s Project Life update is from July 14 – 27. As you can tell, I take a lot of pictures of my kiddos. I keep telling myself to branch out and capture other things, but then I rarely do. New goal!

During these two weeks I finished whole30, we celebrated Meredith’s birthday (I used an insert to document it, pictured at the end), Liam turned 6 months old, and I was sick for a week.

The first ice cream after whole30 deserved to be documented.

At first I was going to print all of the pictures in black and white, but it was just too much. I needed a little bit of color.

I really love cropping photos to add white space. The photo below wasn’t the best shot, but I thought it was so cute how the cousins were lined up on a bench to eat. In memory keeping sometimes it’s better to include the photos that tell the best story rather than the ones that look the nicest.

I actually included two inserts for Meredith’s third birthday party.

Simple, simple! I just love this project!

  • project life 2014 : weeks 25 – 26

When I printed these photos I actually thought that it would be a pretty colorful spread, but in the end it turned out fairly neutral again. At this point I’m just going to embrace it because that is obviously my style! It’s the same with the way I dress. Last weekend I allowed myself to shop a bit for clothes and all I bought were whites, blacks, grays, and blues. Hey, it’s easy to put an outfit together that way!

So anyway, this is from June 16 – 29. Regular weeks.

    project life 2014, weeks 25-26

My whole30 started, and I included a photo of what is basically my breakfast every single day.

    project life 2014, weeks 25-26

We went on a date! Hopefully we can do more of this!

    project life 2014, weeks 25-26

Liam’s five month update is here, with a couple other everyday shots.

    project life 2014, weeks 25-26

I had to put in several pictures from our blueberry-picking trip because it was so pretty.

At the very end of these weeks Meredith potty trained, but I decided to include that in the next spread because that’s when she really got it down. I did make a note in the week in review card though.

Halfway through the year now and I still love this project!! I actually have no desire to change anything up right now. Sometimes I feel the urge to play with paper more than this, but honestly I don’t really have time anyway. I figure when I do I’ll finally start an art journal or do a minibook.

This spread is from June 2 – 15 and it’s one of my recent favorites.

It encompassed two pretty regular weeks, along with Father’s Day. I had more photos than this, but I edited them down in order to keep things more simple and to have a little extra room to breathe. I’m glad I did.

I had an extra space to do some journaling and I used it to write a broad overview of our lives.

I noticed that for my filler cards and journaling cards I’m almost exclusively using black and white now. I guess I’m in a phase where I just like the photos to provide the color.

All of us with my dad on Father’s Day. Liam is the sleeping blob in my brother’s arms.

He’s getting better at the Bumbo! And tolerating it for longer stretches.

    The end. :)

  • project life 2014 : weeks 21-22

I usually do my Project Life spreads over the weekend (sometimes quickly on Saturday morning, sometimes in bits and pieces over both days) but I was so busy last weekend that I just finished this up yesterday evening. I really didn’t want to put it off any longer because for me right now it’s all about getting it done and staying on schedule. Therefore I did hardly any journaling at all.

    project life 2014 weeks 21-22

This is from May 19 to June 1. It’s mostly everyday photos, a group shot of the church group that ran the 5k, a couple of craft works-in-progress, and some filler.

I just let the week in review cards do most of the talking, and only labeled a few photos for context.

    project life 2014 weeks 21-22

During this time I also documented a day in the life on Instagram. I decided to make it an insert using these pocket page protectors.

I typed the journaling in Photoshop Elements on the grid view to make sure it would fit in the 2×2 pockets. For the 2×2 square photos I just created a collage in PSE to come out with a 4×6 photo that I could have printed traditionally.

I love these little square pockets and this was my first time to use them. I really want to play around with these more one day but for now I kept it simple.

  • project life 2014 : weeks 19 – 20

I’m happy to say that I’m still keeping up with Project Life. This is from May 5 – 18.

    project life weeks 19-20

There’s nothing really new here; it’s all my same old simple techniques. I did include an insert with the photos of our house from this post. I kind of set them apart by bordering them all in white, and I think it makes them look less cluttered.

    project life weeks 19-20

I always use some kind of tab when I do an insert.

    project life weeks 19-20

This was when our second dog died, so I included her picture and a little extra journaling about that event. A rare photo of my husband makes an appearance, one of Meredith and her cousin being adorable, and a screen shot of a new favorite song.

    project life weeks 19-20

And I just love this photo of Liam sucking his thumb. Meredith didn’t do that, so it still makes me smile every time I see him do it. :)

    project life weeks 19-20

On the right side we have Liam’s four month update, a couple things from Mother’s Day, a photo of me & Meredith on our sick day, random cute Liam, and a collage of toddler selfies.

I do regret that I didn’t get any pictures of myself with my kids on Mother’s Day, and none of me with my mom either! I kinda wish I had written more about the day here as well, but I do have it written down in another journal so it’s not too big of a deal. Moving on!
