Let me just tell you how much I loved today. A LOT. Any good day off starts with sleeping in, which I did. Then, after some lazing around, David and I decided to cash in on a Cracker Barrel gift card he got for his birthday. Although we’ve been trying to eat healthier this year, we give ourselves one meal a week where we eat what we want. This was DEFINITELY the meal. My love for breakfast food is deep and true, only surpassed by my love for dark chocolate, Blue Bell ice cream, and my Tempur Pedic mattress. And living beings, of course. Anyway, David and I basically ordered one of everything. Not pictured: the hash brown casserole, French…

The Best Advice He’s Ever Heard

August 4, 2009

David: I heard something really good today. “If you live in the past, you get depressed. If you live in the future, you get anxious. You have to live in the present!” I’m going to start living in the present! Me: Yay! Where did you hear that? David: Playboy Radio. Me: … David: It’s not bad, I promise.

sleepover

On Saturday night David and I invited our pastor’s kids Isaiah, 5, and Samuel, 3, to spend the night at our house. Me: So tell me about the NFL draft, I need to know this now! David: (Blah blah Texans blah blah Cushing blah blah defensive end etc. etc. etc.) Me: Hmm. You’re lucky that I already have a working knowledge of football. David: Okay, what’s a cornerback? Me: They are the people that mark the receivers. David: Um, first of all, there is no “marking” in football. Me: But isn’t that what they do? They cover the receivers? David: Yes, but it’s not called “marking.” I played and watched sports for 27 years and I never heard the word “mark” until I went to one of your indoor soccer games. Me: Huh. *** Barry (little bro): So there was chocolate fondue…

Does This Mean I Need Another Vacation?

January 24, 2009

Last night when I went to sleep at 8 p.m. David lay down in bed with me and took a nap. It was a nap because he could never ACTUALLY go to bed that early. Anyway, he decided to get up a couple of hours later, once I was already asleep. Apparently his movement stirred me halfway out of my dream, because I started talking to him. He thought I was completely awake. I wasn’t just babbling random words though, or so he tells me. I started clearly demanding that he give me all his prescriptions and medical records so that we could get him admitted to the hospital. Since I’m a nurse and he had been sleeping, he seriously…
