project life 2013 : week 52 & end page

March 3, 2014

I’m done with my 2013 album! I have to say, even though I’m still like 9 weeks behind, I feel way better about this project now. Okay, so this spread was December 23 – 31. I had photos from Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and a wedding we went to. All my other photos from this time went in the holiday minibook. I was really just trying to get this done and somehow include everything. I kept the journaling cards neutral because of how many photos there were. I actually had an insert too for all the family pics we took on Christmas. I had one extra that I just had to put in, and I wanted to keep all the…

quick takes

February 28, 2014

one Here’s what I’ve been doing with myself during the days the last couple of weeks: I’m almost completely caught up with Downton Abbey, I finished 30 Rock, made more progress on my autumn sampler, framed another old completed project, and am almost done with a birth cross stitch for Liam (will share both soon). I finished my 2013 Project Life album and have started planning for 2014, I read the book Redeeming Love and am currently working my way through both Joyland by Stephen King and Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns. I’m also doing a Bible study with the women at my church even though I can only attend a couple of the meetings, but I am doing the…

liam’s birth announcements

February 27, 2014

I didn’t do paper birth announcements for Meredith because I was too overwhelmed, but this time around I knew it was something I wanted to do, and I enjoyed putting these together. I asked my brother (who is a designer) to come up with a basic template based on a few ideas I had, and then I tweaked his design in Photoshop Elements to fit my vision. I uploaded the files to overnightprints.com and I’m extremely pleased with how they turned out. It was a much cheaper option than anywhere else I’ve seen and I love that they are custom and the paper feels very high quality. I ordered the white envelopes that come with the announcements (for a very…

an ending and a beginning (a breastfeeding story)

February 26, 2014

As of almost a week now, Meredith is no longer nursing. She is 31 months old, so I’d say we gave it a good go. This post might be TMI for some of you in lots of different ways, especially if you’re not a woman or a mother, so read at your own risk. I also want to disclaim that although I love breastfeeding and think it is wonderful, my #1 parenting philosophy is do what works for your family. And you won’t find any kind of deep breastfeeding philosophy here. It’s just our story and my feelings, as usual. Also, it’s really, really long. Warnings complete. Before having Meredith I was very nervous about how breastfeeding would go. I…

project life 2013 : weeks 50 – 51

February 24, 2014

More Project Life catch up! This is from December 9 – 22, so basically the buildup to Christmas. I’m really glad I did the holiday minibook, because it allowed me to focus on the everyday stuff here and not be overly full of holiday stuff. I did include a couple of holiday things that were also in the minibook. The completion of my niece’s stocking was a huge deal to me. I also put in a picture of Meredith at her Pappy’s nursing home Christmas party. The rest of this side is just extra fun stuff. On the right side I started with my overview of the week with all the extra stuff that I didn’t have photos of. Then…
